These buttons are gifts from Marika. Scully'z Recordz is a store where you should all go. No, seriously. GO THERE RIGHT NOW. And since you'll be in New Orleans anyway, please bring me back a beignet from Café Du Monde, 'kay?

I had fun this past week briefly remembering, with Tim and Timmy, the first online hoax we fell prey to. Good times.

I hope my friends and the other participants at the National Equality March in D.C. have a fantastic day! I thank all of my friends who trust me enough to be themselves with me; I'm proud to be your advocate and ally. And today's button reminds everyone that whether or not you know it:

October 11 is National Coming Out Day.

Dreamy, huh? This button is based on a painting called "Natchitoches, Louisiana at Night" by Lenora De Lude of Shreveport, Louisiana. Though only a few of you may be able to pronounce the town's name (nothing like it looks), you could be familiar with it as the real town on which Steel Magnolias was based. The play, written by Robert Harling, was about the death of his younger sister, and the movie was filmed in Natchitoches. (The town was renamed Chinquapin in the movie.) Natchitoches is the oldest permanent settlement in the Louisiana Purchase, and is the sister city of Nacogdoches, Texas (much easier to pronounce).

Sadly, Natchitoches is also the place where singer Jim Croce died on September 20, 1973.

And another one with a birthday...

Wouldn't that be something? That button is from the early 1970s, after the big break-up. I told Tim I felt like I'd gone back in time when I received this recent issue of Rolling Stone.

Back in February 2008, Lisa and Mark were in Houston. They, along with Lindsey and Tom, went downtown to shoot some photos, which I often go back and look at in their LJs and Flickr sets. Included are photos of David Adickes' "The Virtuoso." Here are a couple of shots I took of that sculpture when I went out night shooting with Lynne:

At last, they've created the ultimate Aries button. About time.

Once upon a time, Sunday evenings were my least favorite hours of the week.
Probably because they anticipated Monday mornings, which were no more fun
with a regular work schedule than with a school schedule.
Working for oneself has definite advantages to balance out the low wages.
